"It appears that science no longer matters," said Elizabeth Griffin of wildlife conservation group Oceana, based in Washington. "CITES is not fulfilling its obligation to protect species threatened by international trade." -
SourcePoachers have taken to using heavy arms to carry out military-style operations, leaving local law enforcement outmatched. "They fire on herds with rocket launchers," said Cosma Wilungula Balongelwa, a delegate from the Democratic Republic of Congo, citing cases from earlier this year. -

How heartbreaking. Earth is, hitherto, the only planet with biodiversity and we humans don't know how to appreciate that. We've hunted so many species to extinction and yet we have never learnt our lesson. It's not a question of whether anyone gave a damn about how the existence of the Dodo could have made our lives better, it's about how we didn't give a damn about the Dodo and let it die out and thereby disrupting its local ecosystem. Like how the Tambalacoque (Sideroxylon grandiflorum) or 'Dodo tree' became extinct soon after it's namesake due to their symbiotic relationship. We keep triggering so many of such chain reactions and that makes it small wonder that some have predicted an apocalypse in the not-so-distant future.
Say NO to sharksfin, bluefin tuna, whale and dolphin meat if they're on your menu, but yes if they're shortlisted as species to be protected from ugly men on fishing trawlers.

Yesterday had been the most terrifying day at work.
This one client who got so angry over overdue payment threw his documents over his shoulder and left, leaving my two poor colleagues flabberghasted. They were pissed off too, so they didn't pick up the documents and unfortunately, that leaves me the only one to do it. I think I now know what is meant by an "outburst" cos the client was still talking to me nicely when he first came. Gosh.
Then this director came in and dragged the manager into a meeting and reprimanded him like crazy. Even with the soundproof doors and walls, I could hear her voice and his silence. Feel sad for him cos he's nice (he's in charge of hospitality).
EXACTLY ONE WEEK MORE TO FREEDOM. :DD
